Dental implants are a modern way of replacing a missing tooth using a false tooth ‘root’ made of titanium metal, which is inserted into the jawbone in the position where it is required to support a replacement tooth usually made of dental porcelain. It is also possible to replace several missing teeth, supporting them on a suitable number of implants, and sometimes loose removable dentures can be stabilized by clipping them onto two or more attachments supported by implants. Implants are not suitable for everyone. Sometimes there is insufficient jaw bone in the right place. A full assessment and detailed planning is required to ensure that the greatest benefit is obtained from this exciting and continually evolving technology. There are frequently several options for replacement of a missing tooth, of which implant treatment is one. We can discuss all options to ensure that you choose what is right for you.
